- In the midst of valleys and mountains
The Ambroz and Jerte Valleys, two of Extremadura's natural treasures.
Nature in Extremadura is always generous. In the north valleys alternate with mountains, forming a unique landscape covered with chestnut trees, oaks, olive trees and naturally, cherry trees.
Whilst the Jerte Valley is famous for the beauty of its flowering cherry trees, the Ambroz Valleywith its extensive woods, interspersed with spacious areas of pasture land, is an enticing attraction for visitors. In addition to this exceptional landscape there are spas, natural swimming pools and hiking routes that we invite you to discover.
The Balneario de El Salugral is a spa dating back to the year 1888 which lies in the midst of the Ambroz Valley. This natural enclave contains a wide variety of tree and bird species, as well as gardens and ponds, making it the ideal place in which to rest surrounded by nature. El Salugral is a privileged setting which has one of the most modern, best-equipped spas in Spain.
Come and walk along the whole length of the river that lends its name to this valley, bathe in its hot springs, feel the nature of this delightful landscape of Extremadura.
By contrast, in the heart of the Jerte Valley, in the municipality of Valdastillas, there is an estate with a spring that has a reputation for its therapeutic and medicinal mineral properties where, according to historical references, the Gothic kings had their resting place, known as Villa Gérticos. It is the Jerte Valley Spa
A space located in a valley that will surprise you, not only because its waters turn into health, but also due to its scenic beauty. When the snow on the mountaintops starts to melt, the slopes of the Jerte Valley are covered with a different white cloak. In spring, over a million cherry trees open their flowers, flooding the valley, the river banks and the mountainsides with their fragrance. And those same flowers will then give the most delicious cherries as their fruit.
To celebrate this spectacle of nature, every year the inhabitants of the valley hold the Flowering Cherry Festival, considered a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
