Extremadura offers many contrasts throughout its territory, and proof of this is the different trade fairs that are held here, from all sectors and prestigious throughout Spain and abroad.

La International Ornithological Tourism Fair (FIO), now in its eighth year, is the most important fair in its sector in the whole of southern Europe. With Monfragüe National Park, as its venue, FIO is aimed both at ornithology and enthusiasts of the world of birds. This educational and informative fair improves every year with conferences given by the best professionals, ringing workshops, hiking or birdwatching routes for species like the griffon vulture, the peregrine falcon or the Eurasian eagle owl. The fair takes place at the end of February and beginning of March.

In Zafra, in the south-east of the province of Badajoz, every year from 3rd to 9th October the Zafra International Livestock Fairtakes place. Now in its 560th year, it is consecrated as one of the oldest and más relevancia fairs both in Spain and abroad. This is the perfect place for the different livestock farmers and associations to meet, promoting commercial relations and showing their animals which are listed as select livestock. Conferences and exhibitions are held in the showground where the latest advances and use of new technology is disseminated by leading companies.

Don Benito is where the installations of FEVAL are found, the Institución Ferial de Extremadura, a show site consisting of four covered pavilions with a surface area over more than 5000 m² each, where prestigious fairs are held like FIAL, the International Food Fair; AGROEXPO, FETUREX, the Tourism Fair of Extremadura; or FORO FICON geared towards renewable energy and real estate construction sectors.

Both in Mérida and in Badajoz there are conventions and congresses on different themes throughout the year in the respective spaces designed for this purpose, IFEME in Mérida and in Badajoz IFEBA.
