The town of Villamiel is simply teeming with history and a rich cultural heritage combined with spectacular landscapes.
Villamiel dates back to Roman times, though its name is actually Visigoth in origin. Traces still remain from these periods of history, such as a gravestone, an inscribed column and a pillar, revealing the town's Roman past, as well as numerous remains from the Visigoth period.
Yet these are not the only treasures to enjoy in Villamiel, as its more recent heritage also includes La Piedad chapel, La Soledad chapel, the church of Santa María Magdalena and La Casa del Deán. The area also boasts some truly spectacular scenery, an extensive green area, country paths and Roman roads.
We also invite you to enjoy some of the town's major fiestas, such as Santiago Apóstol, the Fiesta del Emigrante and El Día de la Piedad, as well as Holy Week and St Peter Celestine Day, the patron saint of Villamiel. At Christmas, a living nativity scene is held and in which all the townsfolk take part. -
