Enjoy the beauty of its vineyards with an unforgettable sunset.
Villalba de los Barros is between Santa Marta de los Barros and Almendralejo, close to Aceuchal, and part of the Tierra de Barros region.
It is famous for its wines. And it was also for a long time the residence of the Dukes of Feria, who lived in the castle until the mid-15th century.
The huge castle was built over an existing Arab castle, and can still be visited today. After visiting the castle, stroll down Camino del Castillo, towards Calle Palomar.
Here you will find the Nuestra Señora de la Purificación parish church, consisting of a single nave in three sections, dating from the Gothic period.
However, the one thing you must see here is the Montevirgen convent, a place of pilgrimage for many years due to its statue of the Virgin which was credited with many miracles.
And if you enjoy a bit of adventure, why not try canyoning while you are in the area, or if you are with your family, take your little ones for a walk around the Villalba reservoir, near the Guadajira river. Here you can see numerous archaeological sites found during construction of the reservoir.
And if you are here on 15 May, you can enjoy the fiesta of San Isidro, patron saint of workers.
Why not spend a weekend among the vines and canyons, enjoying the local food and hospitality.
