  • This site contains a group of buildings that comprised the centre of an agricultural estate in Roman times.

Near Barbaño, a hamlet in the municipality of Montijo, in Badajoz province, lies the Roman site of Villa de Torreáguila, which was discovered in 1984.

On your visit you will be able to contemplate a series of buildings that formed the centre of a farm where up to 600 people lived, and which constitutes one of the most notable examples of Roman construction.

Moreover, in this Roman villa you will also have the chance to see the different rooms it was comprised of, like the thermae, the oil and wine presses, the wine cellar and the private chambers of the owner and the servants on the farm.

You can visit this site free of charge on a guided tour, but the visit must be arranged in advance.
