  • Buildings of small dimensions in the Mérida necropolis which are the most important funerary remains to be found in ancient Emerita Augusta.

    In the Mérida necropolis there are two monumental tombs. They are small buildings without a roof and with different structures, although they share certain features.

    These are the tombs belonging to familiar burial place and funerary monument, in the interior you will find the corresponding cinerary urns, since this type of burial was that of incineration.

    One of them was raised by Caio Voconio in honour of his family. It was built, along with the other buildings, in the second half of the 1st century AD.

    The columbaria of Mérida belong to the archaeological site of the Roman city of Mérida
