The town of Don Benito in Badajoz has a parish church with the dimensions of a cathedral which reminds us of its powerful past.
The parish church of Santiago recalls the growth which Don Benito experienced and it is this population growth which led to this religious building attaining the dimensions of a cathedral.
As you approach the church you will realise how solid it is, with well dimensioned buttresses crowned with pinnacles. The main façade calls your attention with two large plinths supporting four splendid columns fluted in the Corinthian style. In the interior, you will enjoy the majesty of its naves, with ribbed vaults and a beautiful altarpiece. -
