16th century Baroque architectural monument, noteworthy for its high tower and its Baroque organ.
Parish Church of San Lorenzo is in the municipality of Garganta la Olla, standing at the highest point in the town and declared a Cultural Heritage Site.
It dates from the 16th century and is dedicated to the patron saint of the town. The architectural format is typical of that in other temples in the region, but it has nuances which make it both different and peculiar.
The first feature which impresses the visitor is its high tower, adjacent to the main building. A cross-bridge was placed on its flat rooftop in memory of the victims of the Serrana de la Vera. It has a regular floor plan with a square apse.
In the interior there is one of the few Baroque organs still in existence in Spain, as well as an altarpiece in the same style and a museum of religious art. -
