In the 16th century this Gothic and Renaissance building, the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, was erected on a 13th century construction, in Casar de Cáceres. Architect Pedro de Ybarra took part in the design of the building.

It has a rectangular floor plan and three openings to access the building under semicircular and pointed arches with no decorations. Outside you can see gargoyles, the quadrangular tower, and many stork nests.

Inside you can find its main altarpiece, made in the late 16th century and designated a Property of Cultural Interest, as well as a stellar vault, the chapels of Cristo de la Peña, Santa Ana, and the vestry. One of the most important images in this church is the Madonna de Trapanni.
