A 16th-century construction, with architecture that mixes Gothic and Renaissance elements, as well as traces of Medieval art.
The Blázquez-Mayoralgo family constructed this palace in the 16th century, in the town of Cáceres, although its name comes from the Marquises of La Isla, who owned the building in the 18th century. It was built on a synagogue in the new Jewish quarter.
Medieval art combines with Gothic and Renaissance elements here, making this a highly rewarding building both artistically and architecturally. On the façade one can see a coat of arms of the Mogollón Blázquez family and inside there is a courtyard typical of Cáceres.
Currently the Palacio de la Isla is owned by Cáceres Town Council and fulfils the functions of a library and cultural centre, as well as a venue for different events and exhibitions.
