Bishop Galarza ordered the construction of this palace in the 16th century, in the provincial capital of Cáceres. Its most remarkable features are, on the outside, its adjoining tower and on the inside, a beautiful cloister.
This palace, which was built in the 16th century, owes its name to Pedro García de Galarza, the bishop of Coria, who greatly favoured the town of Cáceres.
Constructed outside the city walls at the time, it now stands opposite the cathedral. Its constitution has been subject to different modifications over history, adapting it to the needs of the lords who lived in the palace.
Striking features of the façade are the door with a semicircular archway, adorned with two rows of dressed stone ashlars, and the windows decorated with wrought iron grids. In the 17th century a large tower constructed by the Carvajal family in the 15th century was integrated into the side.
Inside the palace we can see a beautiful patio with a lovely cloister and three storeys.
It now belongs to the bishopric and is used as an episcopal palace.
