The town of La Haba lies strategically between La Serena and Vegas Alta del Guadiana, in the province of Badajoz.
This spot has been inhabited by man since time immemorial, so don't be surprised if you come across Roman ruins and more than one anthropomorphic tombs in La Haba and its surroundings.
Architecturally speaking, particularly worthy of note are the numerous façades enhanced with coats of arms of old noble families such as those of the Counts of Montalbán or Campos de Orellana, among others.
For those interested in learning a little more about the place, don't miss out on a visit to La Haba's most important monument: the parish church of San Bautista, with its Latin-cross ground plan and Renaissance design, albeit with a part in Classical style.
Another of the architectural attractions is the chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Antigua, to which processions are held. This building is unique for its 25-step tower. You can get there by way of two bridges, the oldest of which dates back to Roman times, though it was rebuilt in the Middle Ages.
Lastly, albeit no less important, is the convent, founded and built by the Counts of Campos de Orellana. -
