An architectural work which mixes different artistic styles, giving rise to a creation of great harmony and beauty, a symbol of ecclesiastical power.
This is one of the greatest artistic and architectural riches in the municipality of Fuente del Maestre. A harmonious complex made up of three different parts each in a very different artistic style. First we find a Gothic- Mudejar tower, then the nave which is Hispano-Flamenco and finally the apse and transept in Renaissance style.
It was built in several stages, so it is difficult to determine when the church was built. We know that several it was renovated several times during the 15th century at which time the Mudejar tower had already been built.
Visitors will find the exterior very impressive. One of the doors opens onto the Plaza España, it is considered to be the main door and is decorated in the typical Gothic style of the Catholic Monarchs.
Once inside, special attention should be given to the sacristy and the altarpiece in the main chapel, an extraordinary example of Baroque art.
This is a religious monument, a symbol both of the triumph of the Catholic Religion and the power of the Catholic Monarchs. -
