Enjoy classical theater in such a magical place as the Convent of San Benito, in Alcántara.
The Alcántara Classical Theatre Festival began in the mid-80s, during a period of theatrical experimentation, when there was a sharp increase in the number of independent companies.
The Alcántara Festival is considered one of the most important in Spain due to the programme content, the activities surrounding the festival and, above all, its setting. It is held in the privileged setting of the Carlos V Gallery in the Convent of San Benito.
This event takes place during the summer – over the first days of August: on these dates, you will see a different and completely medieval town, where you will experience a unique atmosphere thanks to the street performances and parallel activities.
As night falls, you can see shows on the terraces of the Convent, where the quality of the plays performed is excellent.
Over the weekend, you can try the local gastronomy with the "Tapas" trail, where you can take refreshments so that you can continue with the available activities, and you can also enjoy the Medieval Market, the concerts, plays for children…
This festival is a definite candidate if you want to spend a few days with the family as both young and old will have fun here.
