Experience Medieval times in Luna castle through the love story between Doña Inés de Castro and Don Pedro Cruz.
Every summer, the streets of Alburquerque, presided over by the magnificent Luna castle, are decked out to transport us back to the life and loves of its Medieval denizens. So, if you happen along there in the second fortnight in August, you will find yourself travelling back in time and immersing yourself in the life and customs of the Moors, Jews and Christians of the time, owing to this Villa de Alburquerque Medieval Festival, which has, moreover, been declared a Festivity of Tourist Interest in Extremadura.
On crossing the walled limits to enter the Medieval quarter of Alburquerque, the visitor will be transported back to the years in which Doña Inés de Castro and Don Pedro Cruz lived out their story of love, the leitmotiv of this attractive fiesta.
Plays, performances, concerts, markets, houses with a Medieval air, guided visits around the town and street music troupes are just some of the activities on offer during this festival. -
