Entering this chapel will make your imagination soar to an era when the Arab world was at its greatest splendour.
Nowadays it is a parish church, but in the past this ancient chapel occasionally served as a hospital. However, the thing that really makes it stand out from all the other chapels in the town is that the Ermita del Espíritu Santo has become one of the best examples of Mudéjar architecture in Cáceres.
Some remains from the 14th century are still preserved, but frequent modifications and renovation work has been carried out over its history, and it was even destroyed by the French troops. To gain access, you will pass through a side door with arcades. Once on the inside, you will discover a space structured in naves with brick arches and stone pillars. The transept is octagonal and the roof is made of wood. Its most outstanding sculptures include that of the Cristo del Humilladero, which has many devotees in the town.
