One of the largest, most important holm-oaks in Spain is known as the El Romo Holm-Oak or Encina Madre, a name it receives due to its location in the natural beauty spot of El Romo, in Valverde de Leganés. It is approximately 500 years old and is gigantic in size, with a treetop measuring 32 metres in diameter.
