A history event that recreates the splendour of Zafra during the times of the Dukes of Feria, in the Spanish Golden Age.
Every year, the Extremadura town of Zafra immerses itself in a show that recreates history and atmosphere to take the city back to the 16th century, so recreating all of the splendour the town experienced during the times of the Dukes of Feria.
The city becomes a unique stage, where lots of activities take place that return it to the glory it experienced during the Spanish Golden Age. For the ten days that this historical festival lasts, visitors can enjoy an olden-time market, guided tours of the city's historical-artistic heritage, pageants, the recreation of Sephardic cooking and recipes from the Golden Age, and sets and dramatisations of historical events that took place in Zafra.
An event that also coincides with the summer solstice and with the festivities for the night of San Juan, which takes on an inter-ethnic nature in Zafra with the gypsy tradition of "Mojá de la Vara". All of this allows the visitor to enjoy a different kind of summer solstice, based on purification rituals with water, and in a unique setting such as Zafra, a city of nobility, full of charm and history.
