These are the words of a verse from the sonnet which Don Pedro Alberto Alba dedicated to the magnificence of this residence of the Augustinian Recollects.
In the 17th century, when it dates from, the Augustinian convent, also known as the convent of San Joaquín, was one of the most beautiful buildings of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The Augustinian Recollects settled and lived in this village in the province of Cáceres.
If you come to the area, you will only be able to see some of the remains that have survived to the present, such as the walls of the enclosure for the church that used to adjoin the structure, some remains of murals and a granite image of Saint Augustine from the year 1700.
