One of the oldest castles in the province of Cáceres, located in Aldea del Cano
The castle of Mayoralgo, also known as Garabato, is located in the village of Aldea del Cano in the province of Cáceres, opposite the fortress of La Cervera. This fortification was erected here in the 14th century, and is currently privately owned.
Few remains of the original construction are still standing. Even so, we can see the keep, which still has some of its battlements, loopholes and remains of the machicolations projecting above.
Some canvases of the enclosure and of the two cisterns that guaranteed the water supply on the inside are other remains that one can discover on a visit to this ancient fortress.
