  • On the right bank of the Jerte River, in the north of the province of Cáceres, lies the town of Carcaboso, one of the stops on the Silver Route.

A series of megalithic tombs in the Cerro del Triquiñuelo hill, near Carcaboso's urban area, are the first traces of human settlements connected with this town.

If you visit this beautiful town, as well as discovering its traditional architecture, you'll find the Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol, which has Roman milestones outside.

You can also visit the Milestone Park and Roman Road and Way of St James Interpretation Centre. In the park, next to the church, there are Roman milestones that were discovered around the town. The interpretation centre includes models and information on the Silver Route, and the different stages of the Way of St James through Extremadura.

If you like nature, you have to visit the Botanical Garden, and Las Moreras, a place for leisure and relaxation next to the Jerte River.

Just 20 km from Carcaboso you'll find the remains of the Roman city of Cáparra, in the Dehesa de Casablanca, and an interpretation centre that provides information on this Roman site.
