The most outstanding element of this Baroque church in Jerez de los Caballeros is its seventy-metre high tower. But inside it guards many other treasures, like carvings of the four evangelists.
In the very heart of the municipality of Jerez de los Caballeros in Badajoz province stands the archpriestal church of San Miguel Arcángel, comprised of a majestic architectural ensemble, from which the Baroque tower measuring over seventy metres stands out. Its brick construction with ornamental applications in fired clay and base of granite bestow great solidity on it. Construction went on from the late 14th to the mid-15th century, although the tower was built in the 18th century.
The style of the church is Baroque, but it includes elements corresponding to a diversity of styles. The main altar is comprised of a small three-sided Baroque temple which contains carvings of the four evangelists, and it also has a high choir with a projecting tribune and organ.
